The International Society for Music Education (ISME) is bringing its 37th World Conference to Montréal, and this is an event Canadian music educators won’t want to miss.

Held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, ISME 2026 will unite music educators, researchers, and practitioners from around the globe under the theme “Unity in Music Education: Building Bridges for All.”

What to Expect

ISME World Conferences are renowned for bringing together thousands of music education professionals to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and collaborate on initiatives shaping the future of music education. This year’s programme will feature keynote speakers, research presentations, workshops, and performance groups from across the globe.

The conference is supported by a coalition of Canadian music education organizations, including the Canadian Music Educators’ Association (CMEA), the Coalition for Music Education in Canada, FAMEQ (Fédération des associations de musiciens éducateurs du Québec), and the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).

Why Montréal?

Montréal is the perfect host city for this global gathering. As one of North America’s most vibrant cultural centres, the city offers a unique blend of French, English, and Indigenous heritage—a living example of the conference theme of building bridges across communities and cultures.
